H.E. Mar Emanuel Shaleta Appointed New Bishop of Chaldean Catholic Diocese of St. Peter the Apostle

As early as this morning, Wednesday August 9th, Pope Francis has appointed H.E. Mar Emanuel Hana Shaleta as the new bishop of the Eparchy of St. Peter the Apostle of San Diego; ending the long awaited decision from the Holy See.

Currently serving as bishop in Toronto, Mar Emanuel Shaleta has served in the United States from 1987 until his Episcopal ordination in 2015. Since then, he has served as Bishop of the Eparchy of Mar Addai of Toronto of the Chaldeans in Canada.

As of May 2016, Mar Shlemon Warduni has been appointed as Apostolic Administrator, serving the Eparchy of St. Peter the Apostle. The Vatican decision has also placed H.E. Mar Francis Kalabat as the Apostolic Administrator of Toronto for the time being.

The Eparchy is very excited to receive H.E. Mar Emanuel Shaleta as the new Bishop. His Installment date is unknown for now and will be broadcast as soon as it becomes available.
