Celebrating 42 First Communicants

Children of the Arizona Parishes Receive the Holy Eucharist

On May 30, 2016, 42 children received the Eucharist for the first time in Arizona. His Excellency, Mar Shlemun Warduni, the Apostolic Administrator of the St. Peter Diocese celebrated the Mass. The children processed into the church signing “Thelih ath Yawma”, the traditional first communion hymn. During his homily, Mar Shlemun focused on the beauty of receiving Jesus and on nurturing future vocations in our youth. At the end of Mass, the Bishop presented the children with gifts in celebration of receiving the Eucharist. The gift included a Bible as well as a Rosary in commemoration of the Marian Month.
