The Perpetual “Yes”

Sr. Anahyd Mariam Arabo Makes Her Final Profession

On the Feast of Our Lady of the Fields, Sunday, May 15, 2016, Sr. Anahyd Mariam Arabo took the last steps of her formation in the Workers of the Vineyard by making her Solemn Profession at the 4:30PM Mass at St. Peter Cathedral. His Excellency, Mar Shlemun Warduni, the Apostolic Administrator of St. Peter Diocese for the time being accepted the vows of Sr. Anahyd while His Excellency, Mar Bawai Soro celebrated the Mass. The church was filled to capacity with faithful who had come to witness the beautiful event. It is a tremendous thing to make vows, especially when those vows are made to God.

After the ceremony, Mar Shlemun spoke a few words of thanksgiving to God for the gift of vocations, focusing especially on those vocations to the priesthood and religious life. He also thanked His Excellency, Mar Sarhad Yawsip Jammo, the founder of the Workers of the Vineyard, for his influence and fatherlike care in the formation of the community. He also spoke of the great honor a family has when they produce a member with a religious vocation, thanking Sr. Anahyd’s family and especially her mother for producing such a beautiful daughter.
