Praying With the Future Priests of the Church

The Apostolic Administrator Visits the Seminary of Mar Abba the Great

Since his arrival on May 14, 2016, the Apostolic Administrator, Mar Shlemun Warduni, has wasted no time in acquainting himself with the faithful as well as the various institutions of St. Peter Diocese. On Wednesday morning the seminary of Mar Abba the Great was blessed to receive His Excellency, Mar Shlemun Warduni. Bishop Warduni joined us for Chaldean morning prayer followed by Communion service. After prayer we gave His Excellency a tour of the seminary as a community and he loved it. He mentioned how our house is fit for a seminary and that we should always thank God for this blessing. His Excellency loved the view from our house so he couldn’t help but to take pictures.

After the tour his excellency joined us for breakfast. During breakfast he got to know us seminarians a little more and shared some stories about his own seminary life. As Chaldeans it is not really breakfast until you have chai, so we had chai and headed to the living room in the seminary where His Excellency gave us a spiritual talk. He began by assuring us that he is here for us for all of our needs and anytime we need to talk. He then referred to Scripture:

“that they may all be one; even as you, Father, are in me, and I in you” John 17:21

He explained how it is only by walking with Jesus that we may truly know how to act accordingly and to be one, similar to the Trinitarian reference Jesus mentions in the Gospel of John. Mar Shlemon then referred to the Gospel of Matthew: “And every one who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life” He added how with our sacrifice comes a reward and that reward is standing in front of the Holy Altar of Christ.

We thank Bishop Warduni for his time with us and sincerely cherish his impactful wisdom and love.
