The Emmaus Retreat

"Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the scriptures?"

During difficult times of battle, retreat is necessary to reenergize the troops and replenish supplies. The same is true for the spiritual life. In times of spiritual difficulty, retreats are necessary in order to rest and reawaken the soul. From December 17-20, 2015, a group of 40 young people attended the Emmaus Retreat at St. George Monastery in Riverside.

The Emmaus Retreat has been offered by St. Peter Diocese since 2008, yet it never fails to change a group of complete strangers into more of a family by the end of it. May the graces which were poured into the retreatants overflow into their families and friends this Christmas season.
