Set Apart in the Service of Christ

Two New Priests Ordained in St. Peter Cathedral

On Friday, August 14, 2015, the eve of the Assumption of Mary, St. Peter Cathedral witnessed the priestly ordination of two more Deacons. Fr. David Stephen and Fr. Royal Hannosh joined the Seminary of Mar Abba the Great on August 1, 2009. Seven years later, they are ordained priests together. The Mass began at 6pm with a procession into the Cathedral that was lead by a statue of Our Lady in commemoration of her feast day. The church was filled with many faithful as well as lectors, sub-deacons, choir members, Deacons, Priests and a number of Bishops.

The sacrament of Holy Orders, “configures the recipient to Christ by a special grace of the Holy Spirit, so that he may serve as Christ’s instrument for his Church. By ordination one is enabled to act as a representative of Christ, Head of the Church, in his triple office of priest, prophet, and king” (CCC 1581).

As instruments of the Church, let us offer prayers to God for all of our priests, especially our newly ordained Fr. David Stephen and Fr. Royal Hannosh.
