If You Believe

Reflection on Lazarus Friday

Have you ever been through a tough time in your life? Do you feel like you have been praying and praying, but God has been delaying his response? In the Gospel, we learn about Lazarus being raised from the dead. Martha and Mary, Lazarus’ sisters had gone to Jesus to let Him know that Lazarus was sick. Jesus did not go to Lazarus right away. By the time Jesus got there, Lazarus had already passed away. Martha and Mary told Jesus that if he had been there earlier, Lazarus wouldn’t have died. Jesus knows God and he knew that God will take care of him. God does everything for a reason; His timing is perfect. If Jesus had gotten there earlier, He wouldn’t have been able to perform the miracle and he wouldn’t have shown the world the power of God. When we have faith in God, we allow God to work through us and ultimately give Him glory.

A lot of times we go through tough situations and we lose sight of our faith. God lets things go from bad to worse because He has a plan to do something amazing.

When bad things happen, instead of blaming God and being impatient, try to look for the miracle. Remember that God has a purpose for everything, even if we don’t understand it yet. If we open our hearts to God, wonderful things can happen. Just have faith.
