On Sunday, July 27, 2014, Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches in the Roman Curia, visited St. Peter Chaldean Catholic Cathedral in El Cajon. His Eminence arrived at the Cathedral for Slotha d-Sapra d-Khoshaba (Sunday Morning Prayer) at 11am. It was a great honor and joy for all of those who were present to enjoy such a beautiful visit from His Eminence.
During his homily, the Cardinall expressed his sympathy for all of those who are suffering in Iraq, which was the reason for his visit. He addressed His Excellency, Mar Sarhad Yawsip Jammo during his homily, identifying him with the prophets of the Old Testament as well as our father, Abraham, acknowledging that Abraham came from our own Chaldean people of ancient Mesopotamia. He also spoke on behalf of His Holiness, Pope Francis, blessing the congregration and assuring all who were present of the prayers being offered on their behalf and on behalf of their country, Iraq.
