In our Chaldean Catholic Church May is a special month dedicated to our beautiful Queen of Heaven, the Virgin Mary. Therefore, to show our gratitude to her tremendous motherly care, St. Joseph High School Youth Group spent our weekly meeting praying the Rosary as a family and meditating on the Joyful Mysteries. This week’s meeting began with a lecture about the meaning of prayer and Mary’s role in our prayer life followed by a quick lesson on how to pray the Rosary.
Together the group walked to five different stations with our Blessed Mother Mary through the five Joyful mysteries. It was a time of reflection as a group and as individuals, trying to overcome our daily struggles and temptation of sin around us, as we remembered the birth of Jesus and the life Mary his mother lived. Mary was at every station with us and candles were lit up reminding us of the fire of faith inside our hearts. We asked our beloved mother to pray for us always and enlighten our hearts to love Jesus as she did, to obey the lord as she obeyed, and to love each other as she loved her relative Elizabeth when she visited her. We asked Mary to continue to guide us and help us grow closer to God through the church and prayer. As St. Padre Pio said, “the Rosary is our weapon”, we too as a group decided to use that weapon against anything that can take us far away from our faith.
We ask our Lord through the intercession of our Blessed Mother Mary to keep us humble and obedient to His will and to overflow us with the graces to keep God in the center of our lives and our St. Joseph Youth Group. Amen. Our Beloved Mother Mary, Queen of Heaven and our hearts, pray for us.
