The Feast of the Assumption at the Cathedral

"My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden."

St. Peter Cathedral celebrated the Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady on Wednesday, August 14. The evening began with Ramsha (evening prayer) at 5:30PM followed by Mass. During his homily, His Excellency, Mar Sarhad Y. Jammo spoke of the importance of Our Lady to the Church and to every Catholic individual. After the Mass, the parishoners joined the Bishop in a procession to the Mary Mother of the Chaldeans Grotto. There they prayed the last two decades of the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary and sang hymns to Our Lady. Afterward, those who were present were able to venerate the image of Our Lady and visit the Grotto.
