The Feast of Our Lady of the Fields

"My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior" -Luke 1:46-47

St. Peter Cathedral celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of the Fields on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. The feast is generally celebrated on May 15, which is the memorial of Our Lady of the Fields. This feast day is especially meaningful to the Diocesan community of The Workers of the Vineyard who honor Our Lady of the Fields as their patroness. His Excellency, Mar Sarhad Yawsip Jammo celebrated the Mass. The Gospel reading selected for the feast was from the book of Luke and was the Magnificat of Our Lady.

After the Mass, the congregation joined the Clergy and sisters in a procession to the Mary Mother of the Chaldeans Grotto. There, the Bishop lead the people in a prayer to Our Lady which was followed by a hymn sung by the Workers of the Vineyard. Afterward, the faithful were invited to visit the Grotto.

May the prayers of Our Lady of the Fields protect us.
