Walk for Life, West Coast – 2013
God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, according to our likeness.’

Before the walk, a rally was led with various speakers and a prayer of blessing by Archbishop Cordileone. The apostolic nuncio Archbishop Vigano then delivered a message and blessings to the walkers from His Holiness Pope Benedict. The pope extended his gratitude “to all those who take part in this outstanding public witness to the fundamental human right to life and the moral imperative of upholding the inviolable dignity of each member of our human family, especially the smallest and most defenseless of our brothers and sisters.”
This year was a special year for the pro-life movement, because it is the fortieth anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade decision which marked the beginning of an act of genocide that has murdered 55 million babies. It also came after an election which saw many pro-life advocates disappointed. Understandably, the record number of pro-life demonstrators was a source of joy to many.
To the organizers of this diocese, the most encouraging sign was the great number of young people who were involved in this and other pro-life activities. In our church, the youth know the value of life, and answer the call to speak for the silent innocent ones who cannot speak for themselves. They know the sanctity of human life, and in whose His image and likeness it is made in.
We pray for the loving intercession of St. Mary, the Blessed Mother, in our endeavor to end this abomination which is abortion.
