The Emmaus Retreat – December 2012

That very day two of them were going to a village named Emma’us, about seven miles from Jerusalem, and talking with each other about all these things that had happened. While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. –Luke 24:13-15

The eleventh Emmaus retreat in California took place the weekend before Christmas and it was an experience that will never be forgotten by those who attended. The semi-annual retreat is offered twice a year, once in the summer and once in the winter for the youth of St. Peter Diocese.

The retreat focuses on the passage of the Road to Emmaus in Luke’s Gospel and all the talks and activities are centered on it. The 23 retreatants and 8 leaders drove up to St. George Monastery Thursday evening. Though many of them did not know each other on Thursday, they returned to San Diego on Sunday evening as a family. We wish all of those who attended a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year, and we pray that they may continue to walk with Christ.
