In a weekend full spiritual talks, sports activities, and youth fellowship, over 70 young people were in attendance for a youth retreat in the forests of San Jose, California. The retreat was for the Diocese of St. Peter the Apostle for Chaldeans and Assyrians and it took place from November 2-4. The people who attended were members of the churches in the Northern Vicariate of the Diocese, which included the parishes of St. Mary’s, St. Matthew’s, and St. Thomas. In attendance were also two of the nuns of the Workers of the Vineyard and four of the seminarians of the Seminary of Mar Abba the Great who took the trip up from San Diego to get to know the youth around the diocese.
The theme of the retreat was from 1 Timothy 16:12 where St. Paul tells us the “Fight the Good fight of faith.” The retreat was spent talking about the importance of our Catholic faith and how it is based on our belief in Christ as our God and Savior. The youth left the retreat with new friendships with each other and with a strengthened relationship with God to help them fight the good fight of faith.
