St. Thomas Celebrates the Ordination of Deacons

With great joy, St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Turlock, California celebrated the ordination of 2 Deacons, as well as the belssings of 6 Servers and 13 Lectors. The ordination and blessings took place on Sunday, June 24, 2012. The joyous occasion was greatly blessed by the presence of His Excellency, Mar Sarhad Yawsip Jammo who celebrated the Mass and presided over the ceremonies, along with Fr. Auraha Mansoor and Fr. Peter Sulaqa.

In his homily, Bishop Sarhad spoke of the role that deacons have in the Church and their ministry in spreading the Christian faith by being the light that draws others to Christ. Gifts for graduates were also distributed to those who completed their studies this year.
