The Chaldean Scouts Begins Again

The Chaldean Boys and Girls Scouts had their first session this past week, June 20 and 21. The girls meet on Wednesdays and the boys on Thursdays from 10am-2pm. The Chaldean Scouts is a recent project of the Chaldean Diocese of St. Peter the Apostle. This is the second year of Scouts and quite a few improvements have been made. Among the many things they learn, for example, about their Chaldean Heritage and the Aramaic language, they are also learning about music.

By the end of the program, the Chaldean Scouts will know how to read the Aramaic language and how to read music, along with a number of other practical and interesting things. The Boy Scouts is lead by the Seminarians of Mar Abba the Great and the Girl Scouts by the Workers of the Vineyard.

The purpose of the Chaldean Scouts is to instill a love and sense of dignity for their Chaldean heritage, culture and language. America is known as the melting pot for a reason, and it would be a tragedy to allow the Chaldean people to forget who they are and how deep their roots go. By instilling these values in the children of the Chaldean Scouts, we will be preserving our heritage and carrying it on to future generations.
