Assumption
Of Virgin Mary

On
August 15, 2005, the celebration of the Assumption of Virgin
Mary took place for the first time at St. Peter's Cathedral. The
Church was filled with people of all ages as His Beloved Mar Sarhad Jammo
celebrated the mass. Candles were lit in remembrance of the
Virgin, and the choir sang harmoniously in celebration of our Beloved
Mother.
The Bishop firmly stated the Blessed Virgin is the topmost of
all
women and she will always hear our prayers. The remembrance was
taken
outside where the crowds of people gathered to kiss the picture
of the
Virgin Mary. Many left flowers and stood in front of the statue
to
pray, adore, and admire the Mother of our Lord.
This is the first year this wonderful celebration has taken
place at
St. Peter's Cathedral. Bishop Sarhad Jammo along with the clergy
at
our church worked together to bring such a joyous feast to us
and we
hope this enriching and fulfilling celebration will become an
annual
event.
