India Has "Little
Catechism on the Eucharist"
NEW DELHI , India , MARCH 28, 2006 ( Zenit.org ).-
The Indian bishops' Commission for Bible and Catechetics is publishing a "Little
Catechism on the Eucharist."
The catechism comes as a follow-up to the "Year of the Eucharist" proclaimed
by Pope John Paul II.
In a statement the bishop' commission said: "The book, 'Little Catechism
on the Eucharist,' is dedicated to children in a particular way, even though
it is equally beneficial to the young and adults."
Children, it said, "need to receive the necessary preparation to learn
the primary and fundamental elements of the Christian faith, of which the
sacrament of the Eucharist is the center."
The "Little Catechism on the Eucharist" was originally prepared
by the Dominican Father Roberto Coggi and published by Edizioni Studio
Domenicano in collaboration with the Institute of St. Clement I, in Rome
.
The Indian episcopate received permission to publish it in India with adaptations.
