Pope Benedict XVI Installs New 15 Cardinals

At the Vatican, Pope Benedict XVI elevated 15 new cardinals Friday (March 24). Among those receiving the title, and the distinctive red cap, were two Americans. Cardinal Sean O'Malley heads the Boston archdiocese, and Cardinal William Levada, former Archbishop of San Francisco, is the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith at the Vatican. There are now 193 cardinals in the Roman Catholic Church.
