Second Youth Convention- LA - July 20-23, 2006

The second youth convention of St. Peter Diocese-USA took place at St. Paul’s Assyrian Chaldean Catholic Church of North Hollywood on July 20 through 23, 2006.
Hundreds of young Chaldeans and Assyrians from seven parishes enjoyed the company of each other. They gathered from different places of California (Basically San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, Turlock, and San Jose) and from Arizona. They were accompanied by their parishes’ priests. Around 300 participants attended the convention through its activities. The program was full, well studied, and prepared by the organizers from St. Paul Church.
On Thursday July 20th a welcoming reception was waiting for each group at the moment of its arrival at the church. The dinner was offered too for all the participants. After the dinner it was time for the group leaders to distribute the T-shirts to their groups before they left to the hotel. On Thursday the early arrived groups were: St. Peter’s and St. Michael’s parishes (San Diego), and Mar Awraha (Arizona). On Friday early morning (between 1-2 A.M.) two groups from northern California arrived to Hilton Hotel, those of St. Thomas (Turlock) and St. Mary (San Jose). On the 1st day of convention, Friday July 21st, the last group arrived was from St. George Parish (Orange County).
Day One Friday July 21, 2006:
After the breakfast the groups stood in lines lifting their banners at the front. The entrance was in order, all the youth where wearing same colored T-shirts, as symbol of unity of the diocesan youth.
Later, three lectures were held inside the church, after each one there was a question and answer, and group discussion divided in sessions. The three lectures were given by:
- Fr. Jon his topic was (how can I trust God and myself).
- Second lecture presented by His Excellency Bishop Jammo (Hunting the treasure).
- A band of three presenting (songs and meditation on youth’s spiritual life).
The Second Day:
The second day was dedicated to sport; all the parishes had their team to play volleyball and basketball.
Third Day:
On Sunday, the third and last day, his Excellency bishop Jammo presided over a wonderful ceremony of the Holy Mass in St. Paul’s Church accompanied by the diocesan Choir combined from St. Michael’s and St. Peter’s churches. After the Mass all groups were invited to have a “Last dinner” together on the honor of the Bishop.
