Diocesan Announcement

His Excellency, Bishop Sarhad Yawsip Jammo announces the formation of the Diocesan Advisory Council effective July 1, 2006. The mandate of this council is the following, but not limited to:

-         Providing advice to the Bishop on civil matters of the Diocese.

-         Public relation both on governmental and community issues.

-         Financial and fundraising.

-         Social events of the Diocese.

-         Other matters or special events from time to time.

The Diocesan Advisory Council at the present time consists of nine members appointed by the Bishop. The following are the extant members:

Najib Oram

Arkan Somo

Noori Barka

Tony Oshana

Later this council will be enlarged to twenty-one members to accommodate all the parishes and the missions of our Diocese.

The Diocesan Advisory Council members met with the Bishop on Thursday, July 13, 2006, the council was briefed by the Bishop of their role and duties and responsibilities regarding the issues related to our Diocese.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Bishop acting on the recommendation from the members of the council, appointed Aziz Razoky, chairman of the Diocesan Advisory Council for a period of three years.

The next scheduled meeting of the Advisory Council is August 4, 2006; the council will finalize the formation of the proposed committees within the council in order to become quiet effective in dealing with issues related to our Diocese.
