Palm Sunday Celebration

Palm Sunday was a great celebration among Christians all over the world. At
St. Peter's Catholic Cathedral, Chaldeans of all ages celebrated in this special
occasion on Sunday, April 9, 2006 . Everyone gathered together with their olive
branches shouting with joy and enjoying a grand celebration. As Father Michael
J. Bazzi began the march into the church, the deacons and the choir began singing
joyous hymns of hosanna. Bishop Sarhad Yosip Jomou also participated in the
march along with Father Felix Shabi carrying the Holy Bible. Children were
at the front of the march carrying their olive leaves as high in the air as
they possibly could. Parents and elders walked behind the choir also participating
in singing the hymns. The march started in the parking lot and continued to
the front of the church. As everyone participated in this celebration they
sang in Aramaic and also in Arabic with much joy and remembrance of the great
entrance by our lord, Jesus Christ, into Jerusalem . Everyone then walked through
the main door and into the church with the bishop leading the way. A mass then
began with everyone praying and singing holy songs praising the Lord.
