Pope Warns of Threats to
Families
ROME, APRIL 14, 2006
(Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI reflected on threats to families and the
gap between the world's rich and poor as he presided over a Way of
the Cross at the Roman Colosseum.
"In the mirror of the cross we have seen all the suffering of
humanity today," the Pope told the thousands of people on hand for
the Good Friday event.
"We saw the suffering of abandoned, abused babies ... threats
against families, the division in the world in the pride of the rich
and the misery of all those who suffer hunger and thirst," he added.
The event was expected to be broadcast in 42 countries.
