The Importance of the Cross

 

On September 9, 2006 his Excellency Mar Sarhad Yawsip Jammo attended the Breath of Life Youth Group at St. Peter's Cathedral to give a talk about the importance of the cross and what love really means. Before his 15 minute talk, he participated in a small activity where he introduced himself and talked about his favorite saint. In his talk, he told us about celebrating the cross on September 14 on the Feast of the Cross and asked a few of the youth to help with carrying of the cross on that day during the procession. He clearly explained that the cross carries us, and some way we have to carry it. We are reacquiring happiness in our heart because we have Jesus with his expression through the cross. He also talked about the meaning of love, and told the youth that to love someone you have to break yourself. You have to give up/break yourself and give it to another. His presence with the youth and his talk was a very great experience for many that attended the meeting.
