Prayer Service and Meditations on
the Sacrifice of Christ in English
9pm-Midnight

DESCRIPTION:
A three-hour prayer service and series of reflections to take place between 9 PM and midnight on Passover Thursday. After an introductory Evening Prayer, nine personas will be used as lenses to gain insight into the events of our Lord’s passion, death and resurrection:

I. Mary of Bethany

IV. Pontius Pilate
V. Simon of Cyrene
VI. “Dismas,” the Good Thief
VII. Joseph of Arimathea
VIII. Our Lady
IX. Jesus

Each persona will be discussed in the following manner:

[A] an extended Bible reading relevant to their perspective;
[B] a reflection on the events of the Paschal Mystery through their persona;
[C] a hymn inspired by their viewpoint.

The spirituality of this retreat is reflective of the AssyroChaldean Church of the East, being deeply Biblical in nature, and utilizing some of her hymns and insights.
