Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named
Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man
came to Jesus by night and said to him,
"Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come
from God; for no one can do these signs that
you do, unless God is with him." Jesus
answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you,
unless one is born anew, he cannot see the
kingdom of God." |

Basilica Hymn
The earth of Judah was defiled with the blood of children, but it was absolved by springs of water made holy. While Herod made the earth unclean by the murdering of children, you, O Lord, in your mercies, like the Good One, absolved the whole creation by your holy dawning. Great is your gift and your compassion, O Lord; glory to you!

commentaries by Fr. Andrew Younan.
