Radical Faith and Perennial Theology

Radical Faith:

To recognize Jesus of Nazareth as the Messiah and Savior represented for Saul-Paul a defining moment of radical fulfillment. In Paul, two cultures found an authentic and valid representative: the Scriptural Israelite and the Hellenistic Gentile. Though the earthly provenance of Jesus verifies that he is a descendant from the lineage of Abraham of Ur of the Chaldeans, the identification of himself as the “Son of Man” and the “Son of God” positions him at the center of the human history in its totality. 

            For a well-informed Israelite, living at the time of Augustus Caesar, God has definitely intervened in human history, made a selection of a specific people to become his own, educated that people and prepared them, mainly through the preaching of the prophets, to grow up in spirituality so that they may yearn for salvation by the national Messiah. Nevertheless, in a different way, but very much complementary with the former one, God prepared as well the human family of the nations to expect the revelation of the King of Kings, the Highest Pontiff, and the ultimate prophetic Legislator to collect the entirety of humanity and guide it toward one common divine destiny. It was totally unexpected and baffling that both these preliminary courses would join each other on Golgotha, at the empty tomb, and in the Upper Room of Pentecost to usher in new era of elevated humanity.

Saul of Tarsus, the Pharisee, opposed and resisted vehemently the concept of a universal Savior, resulting in the bridging between the two disparate segments of a chosen nation and unqualified nations, but the radiation of Light stemming from the Risen Lord was stronger than his presumptions. Saul, once struck by the celestial thunder on the way to Damascus, could not escape capturing the magnitude of implications for the human race-- even for the whole universe--resulting from the divine final revelation of Self as expressed in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus the Nazarene.

Perennial Theology:

            Once the full identity of Jesus of Nazareth has been recognized and the value of his death and resurrection acknowledged, Saul becomes Paul the Apostle, to put to work and exploit his formidable genius, ardent zeal, scriptural knowledge, Hellenistic philosophy, and Roman culture, in the service of his Lord and Savior and the up-building of his historic Body, the Church. The theological doctrine in his letters represents lofty peaks of intellectual reflection on the meaning of creation, of human life and destiny, of the dramatic reality of sin, of the gift of justification in the blood of Christ, absolution by divine Mercy, and eternal life by the Holy Spirit.  What a revelation!

Bishops Mar Sarhad & Mar Bawai in Washington D.C.
to honor Patriarch Delly

Washington, D.C. Report. On Friday evening; September 19, 2008, the U.S. based Catholic foundation, Morley Publishing Group, held its 13th Annual Partnership Black-tie Dinner in honor of Cardinal Mar Emmanuel III Delly, the Patriarch of Babylon of the Chaldeans & Assyrians, and also recognized the ongoing struggles of our Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian People in Iraq and their plight in the surrounding countries.

Numerous speakers at the event emphasized the on going sacrifices of our Iraqi Christians and the great martyrdom the AssyroChaldean people have offered in the name of the Lord and their country Iraq. Large memorial photos we exhibited on the stage during the event portraying the recent Chaldean Martyrs: Archbishop Mar Polus Faraj Rahho, Father Ragheed Ganni and his three companions.

Our Eparchial Bishop Mar Sarhad Yawsip along with several parishioners from Saint Peter Cathedral flew from San Diego to Washington DC to participate at this event. Bishop Mar Bawai Soro also was present there along with a number of other Chaldeans and Assyrians from Michigan and Illinois. The last keynote speaker of the event was our Bishop Mar Sarhad Yawsip, who eloquently spoke about the plight of our People in Iraq and forcefully argued a few practical solutions that shall remedy their tragic plight in Iraq.

Renowned personalities from the U.S. Congress, the Media and Catholic & Protestant Coalitions were also present. His Excellency the Iraqi ambassador to the U.S., Samir Shakir al-Sumaydi was also one of the guest-speakers. The purpose of the organizers for this event was to bring attention of the struggles and hardships that Iraqi Christians are experiencing; indeed to honor their courage and sacrifices.


The plight of Iraqi Christians in the chaotic wake of the war in Iraq was the subject matter of two more events by our two Bishops. The Catholic Channel EWTN conducted live interview with Mar Sarhad and Mar Bawai a few hours before the event at the John Paul II Center in Washington, D.C. The interview was conducted by the famous Catholic journalist Raymond Arroyo. The two Bishops, as usual, spoke very sincerely and convincingly about the plight of our people, how to restore the social and human situation. Bishop Jammo specifically elaborated with details about these proposals. He mainly stated that the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian People of Iraq are the native people of Iraq and that they ought to have (without any sense of favoritism from anybody else) equal constitutional rights just as their Iraqi Arab and Kurdish compatriots have today. Such an equality would be concretely achieved when an Autonomous Area is recognized for the abovementioned Iraqi Christians, as an application of the Constitutional principle of equality, and even more appropriately if the amended Constitution would contain that recognition explicitly.

The plight of the Iraqi Christians refugees was also discussed by the two bishops. The issue of Church unity and the recent reception of 1000 Assyrian families by the Chaldean Dioceses in the US and Australia was another topic which Mr. Arroyo discussed with our two Bishops.
 

 

مقابلة مار سرهد  ومار باوي في واشنطن العاصمة

في واحدة من المقابلات النادرة والمهمة في تاريخ شعبنا وفي الأوساط الإعلامية العالمية سلّط الإعلامي رايموند آرويو من قناة ( EWTN TV ) الفضائية الأمريكية الضوء على مشكلة شعبنا الكلداني السرياني الآشوري  في العراق من خلال مُقابلته للمطرانين الجليلين مار سرهد يوسب جمو ومار باوي سورو في واشنطن العاصمة يوم الجمعة 19 أيلول الجاري.

بسبب أهمية المواضيع التي طُرحت ونوقشت خلال المُقابة، قال السيد آرويو في نهايتها: "كنتُ أتمنى لو كانت لدينا ساعة أخرى لكي ندخل في تفاصيل أكثر عن هذا الموضوع المهم"، وقد علمتُ فيما بعد بأن السيد أرويو وجّه فعلا دعوة مفتوحة لمار سرهد ومار باوي لإجراء مقابلة أخرى في أقرب فرصة يكونان فيها في واشنطن العاصمة.

 

للمعلومات العامة نقول إن محطة ( EWTN ) تٌعتبر من المحطات الفضائية المهمة جداً في العالم، ويُشاهدها السياسيون ورجال القانون والإعلام من كل أنحاء العالم، ولا سيما من أميركا، ويُقال إن عدد المُشتركين فيها يبلغ 150 مليون مشترك، وتستفيد المحطة من تركيبتها الكنسية الكاثوليكية في التعامل مع الشؤون الدولية المهمة والتأثير فيها، لذا فإن إختياراتها للشخصيات التي تتعامل معها أو تقابلها وكذلك المواضيع التي تبحث فيها ليست عملية يسيرة بل خاضعة لإعتبارات كثيرة ودقيقة.

 

لم يكن إختيار المطرانين الجليلين مار سرهد ومار باوي حدثاً بسيطاً أو إعتباطياً بل كان المُشرفون على المحطة يعلمون بأنهما (أي مار سرهد ومار باوي) يحضران مع نخبة أخرى قليلة من أبناء شعبنا الكلداني السرياني الآشوري، قدِموا من سان دييكو وسان هوزيه وديترويت وشيكاغو الى واشنطن العاصمة، للقيام بعمل كبير جداً (إن لم نقل العمل الأهم) في تاريخ شعبنا في مساء الجمعة 19 أيلول الجاري وهذا الموضوع سنكتب عنه في الأيام القليلة القادمة لأنه من الأهمية بدرجة إنه قلب الكثير من الموازين السائدة في العقل الغربي عن الحكم الذاتي لشعبنا وحقوقه في العراق كما ينبغي وكيف يجب أن تتعامل معه الإدارة الأمريكية الحالية أو أية إدارات لاحقة. من جانبهما، ورغم إن برنامجهما كان حافلاً ومُزدحماً جداً،  فإن مار سرهد ومار باوي آثرا أن يضغطا على نفسيهما في سبيل إيصال صوت شعبنا ومُطالبتنا بالحكم الذاتي الى كل أرجاء المعمورة لدرجة إن أحد الذين إتصلوا قال لي بعدها " الآن يُمكن القول إن موضوعنا وصل الى العالمية التي كنا نطمح بها منذ فترة"، يُضاف الى كل ذلك إن المطران سرهد، حسب ما سمعت، عمل في نيويورك يوم الأربعاء الماضي 17 أيلول الجاري مقابلة أخرى شديدة الأهمية مع برت ستيفنس المسؤول عن الشؤون العالمية في صحيفة الـ وول ستريت جورنال، لم تُنشر بعد وسنكتب عنها إن شاء الله عند نشرها.

 

كان الجزء الأول من المقابلة إستعراضاً عاماً عن تاريخ كنيستنا في وادي الرافدين وكيف إنها تُدعى كنيسة الشهداء بسبب ما قدمته من دماء زكية لقرون من الزمن، وما زالت، في سبيل الحفاظ على المسيحية في هذه البقعة من العالم. كان هذا الإستعراض الأولي سريعاً لأنه على ما يبدو كان التخطيط الأساسي لمُقدم البرنامج أو مُعّده هو إعطاء أطول فترة مُمكنة لبحث مشكلة شعبنا الحالية في العراق والحقوق الدستورية له.

 

قال المطران سرهد: "الدستور الحالي ليس جيدا بالدرجة التي يمنح بها المُساواة لكل مُكونات الشعب العراقي"

قال المُقدم من جانبه وهو يقرأ من ورقة أمامه: "الدستور يقول إن الإسلام هو دين الدولة الرسمي وإن التشريعات يجب أن لا تتناقض مع تعاليم الدين الإسلامي..."

 

لم يدخل أي من المطرانين في تعليق على هذا الموضوع ولكن المطران سرهد علقّ قائلاً: "يجب أن يُحقق الدستور المُساواة لكل ابناء الشعب العراقي، ففي الوقت الذي يمتلك فيه العرب من السنة والشيعة وكذلك الأكراد الحق في إقامة مناطق حكم ذاتي خاصة بهم نرى إن هذا الحق ليس للمسيحيين ومثل هذا التطبيق لا يُوفر للدستور إمكانية تحقيق المُساواة.."

هنا قال المُقدم "إذا كان من حق الجميع الإنفصال بمناطقهم فلماذا لا يحق مثل هذا للميسحيين..."

 

هنا تدخل المطران سرهد بصوت واضح وبنبرة قاطعة قائلاً:"ليس عدلاً أن تكون في العراق الواحد مناطق مُستقلة أو مُنفصلة فنحن لا نُطالب بذلك أبدا ولا أعتقد إن أحداً يُطالب بالإنفصال عن العراق بأي شكل من الأشكال ولكن ضمن النظام الفدرالي يحق لنا إقامة الحكم الذاتي الخاص بنا وليس الإنفصال، أي إن المسيحيين يجب أن يتمتعوا بالحرية في ذلك"

مار باوي من جانبه أضاف إضافة ذكية جداً إذ قال لمُقدم البرنامج: "إحساسك بأنك مواطن من الدرجة الثانية هو إحساس مُرعب" ثم أكد على ما قاله المطران سرهد مع إضافات أخرى أكدت على حق شعبنا في المطالبة بكل حقوقه.

 

سأل مُقدم البرنامج:"هل تتصوران إن أميركا تُقدم ما فيه الكفاية لشعبكم في العراق؟"

أجاب المطران سرهد قائلاً:" يوجد شعور مُعقد هنا. شعبنا في العراق لا يسأل عن إمتيازات خاصة به، إنه يبحث عن المُساواة التي مع الأسف لم تُعطى له وهذا هو همه الأكبر. الكلدان السريان الآشوريون هم قلب العراق، وأؤكد لك بأن العراق يتعرض الى كل هذا التشتت لأنه لم يُسمح لقلب العراق بأن يعمل على جمع كل العراق، العراق مع الأسف محروم من الجهد المهم لشعبنا. لا بل إن البشرية كلها محرومة من هذا الإرث الإنساني الغني، هذه خسارة لكل البشرية، نحن لا نُطالب بمنطقة مُنفصلة لشعبنا، فكل العراق لنا وهو بلدنا ولكننا نريد منطقة حكم ذاتي خاصة بشعبنا ضمن العراق الفدرالي الواحد"

 

مار باوي من جانبه تحدث، فضلاً عن حقوق شعبنا، عن كون كنائسنا في العراق مُتماثلة في تفاصيلها وإن الخلافات الحالية ليست خلافات لاهوتية مُعقدة وإنما ترجع الى خلافات إجتماعية نفسية وتوارث تاريخي.

 

كانت هذه المُقابلة مهمة في كل المقاييس ونتمنى أن نرى تكرارها قريباً لكي يفهم المسؤولون في الإدارة الأمريكية وفي العالم عموماً بأن ما يُنقله البعض عن (السعادة الكبيرة) التي يعيش في كنفها شعبنا الكلداني السرياني الآشوري في العراق ليست إلا أوهاماً غير صحيحة في الوضع العراقي الحالي، وإن مُطالبتنا بالحكم الذاتي لشعبنا هي ضرورة قصوى لبقائنا في أرض الأباء والأجداد وليست إمتيازاً خاصاً بنا، لا بل إنه (أي الحكم الذاتي) يُعتبر ضرورة للدستور العراقي ولدستور الإقليم لإثبات مصداقيتهما في تحقيق المُساواة بين كل مُكونات الشعب العراقي الواحد فضلاً عن إن شعبنا هو اللحمة التي ستلحم كل مُكونات العراق الواحد، كما أكد عليه المطرانان.

 

هذه مجرد  إشارات الى بعض ما ورد في هذه المُقابلة المهمة ولن ندخل في تحليل إمكانيات المطرانين الجليلين وكيفية تداولهما للموضوع لكي لا يُقال بأني مُنحاز إليهما، لكنهما، وبإختصار شديد، كانا خير شاهدين على إمكانية المُخلصين من أبناء هذا الشعب على إيصال مُطالبتنا بحقوقنا الى أعلى المُستويات وقد أبليا بلاءاً حسنا ومُمتازا، وهذا ليس إلا تمهيدا لما سيأتي من عرض لما قاما به في حدث ليلة الجمعة 19 أيلول الجاري أمام أرقى العقول في واشنطن والعالم. إنتظرونا!

The Hidden God

 

          There is a real tension in theology, corresponding to a tension in reality, between understanding God as revealed and recognizing him as hidden. On the one hand, “his invisible attributes of eternal power and divinity have been understandable and perceivable in what he has made” (Romans 1:20); on the other hand, “who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?” (Romans 11:34). No matter how much we see of God in nature, in Scripture, and even in his fullest revelation in the flesh, in Jesus Christ, he always remains beyond our comprehension; no matter how much he reveals of himself, he still stays somehow hidden.

          This eventually causes us a problem. Because we are God’s image, we imitate his Nature in a created way even in this. We also are mysterious beings, incomprehensible to other fellow creatures and even somehow to ourselves. This should give us a sense of respect and awe toward other human beings; it should warn us against thinking we have someone “figured out,” or of limiting their potential, as we do when we think someone “will never change.”

            This is not, however, the only problem. The worse problem is when we hide ourselves deliberately, taking advantage of the admitted mystery within our hearts and using this shadow to hide our vices, or even our true selves, presenting only a mask to others. Even worse than this, and even more ridiculous, is when we think that we can be hidden and mysterious even to God, that we can somehow run from him.

 

Nowhere to Hide

 

          But this is not possible with God. We may be mysterious to one another; we may be able to hide from our dearest friends or even ourselves, but we cannot hide from God; we cannot fool him even with our most creative masks. We can even fool ourselves at times, but we cannot fool God. Psalm 139 begins thus:

 

O Lord, you search me and you know me:

you know when I sit and when I stand;

you understand my thoughts from afar.

My travels and my rest you mark;

with all my ways you are familiar.

Even before a word is on my tongue,

You know it, Lord, through and through.

 

But it is more than silly to think we can disguise ourselves before God; it is harmful. Our redemption depends on our coming to him honestly and openly, with trust and earnestness, and most of all contrition. Bad theology leads by necessity to bad piety. When we admit who we are, how we must look to God, and how he can read us more easily than we could read a book, then we can turn to him and ask forgiveness, as in the Basilica Hymn of the First Sunday of Moses:

 

Like an image engraved on a tablet, I am searched, O Lord, in my debts and sins which are written upon my skin and inscribed, and at all times shamefacedness hides my soul. O my Savior, be the absolver of my guilt, and have mercy on me.

Social Activity Backgammon Tournament of
Saint Mary’s & Saint Matthew in Ceres
Saint Thomas of Turlock, California

Saint Mary’s parish of Campbell to collaboration with two other sister parish’s of Saint Matthew in Ceres and Saint Thomas of Turlock, California, over the past 3 weeks had social activities.

On August 17th after Sunday Mass a group of people from Saint Mary’s parish traveled to Saint Thomas parish for social activities; also participated in this gathering a group from Saint Matthew from Ceres California.

About 32 players for backgammon were arranged from 3 parishes to play each other for fun to select the Champion the best player of the year for summer 2008.
During the game we had delicious Kabob with rice, cold beverages with coffee and tea at all time.

Second gathering was on August 31in Saint Matthew parish to continue on Backgammon tournament.
At the end we had Mr. Isaac Esho from Saint Matthew parish from Ceres was the Campion of all players for summer 2008 and second place was Mr. William Baho from Saint Thomas parish from Turlock. One of the participant in this social activity was Father Kamal Bidawed.

During this social activity in Saint Matthew parish, we were very happy with their Kindness and worm hospitality, delicious food prepared by Ladies group.

This Gathering was arranged by Ninoos Yadegar from Saint Mary’s Parish in Campbell.

SECOND ANNUAL FOOD FESTIVAL

At Saint Mary’s Catholic Church

St. Mary's Church, Campbell, CA, Second Annual Food Festival was held on September 27th and 28th, 2008 with free admission and open to public. On Saturday, Sep 27, 2008 the food festival started at 11:00 a.m. with crowd of faithful people, music rhythms and traditional delicious foods like kabobs and desserts such as baklavah. Throughout the day, there were dance performances done  by the Assyrian youth of St. Mary's with their tradition colorful dresses, in addition to variety of games and  souvenirs. On Sunday, Sep 28, 2008 Father Yoshia Sana celebrated the Mass at 9:00 a.m. and blessed our community and all their efforts  to bring this event alive. Immediately after, the festival resumed again. In the late afternoon, His grace Mar Bawai Soro was welcomed by the community. He gave a wonderful speech thanking all those who organized such a great event, thanking our community who attended and  enjoyed the event. Memories of that weekend was unforgettable, it was  a great success, it brought the community of St. Mary’s more united as one.

احتفالات عيد الصليب في كنائس الابرشية

- احتفلت كاتدرائية مار بطرس الكلدانية في سان دييكو بعيد الصليب مساء السبت 13 ايلول 2008. بهذه المناسبة قام سيادة المطران مار سرهد يوسب جمو راعي الابرشية بالاحتفال بالقداس الالهي عصرا. اعقب ذلك مراسيم الزياح. حيث اصطف الشعب المؤمن بعد الكهنة والشمامسة والاخويات وفي طليعتهم سيادة المطران، حاملين الصليب والشموع وهم يهتفون تراتيل عيد الصليب.

صادفت هذه المناسبة ذكرى مرور 35 عاما على تأسيس خورنة مار بطرس في 1973، كما ومرور ذكرى 25 عاما على تكريس كنيسة مار بطرس، اذ كرست الكنيسة في يوم عيد الصليب المقدس.

2- (كلمة الصليب عند الهالكين جهالة وعند المخلصين قوة وخلاص) بهذه الكلمات احتفلت كنيسة القديسة بربارة في لاس فيكاس بعيد الصليب للايام 13 و 14 من شهر ايلول. حيث تم اشعال النار يوم السبت 13 ايلول مساءا وذلك رمزا لاكتشاف خشبة الصليب وبعد ذلك كان هناك امسية اقامتها لجنة الكنيسة بهذه المناسبة، وفي اليوم التالي 14 ايلول كان هناك زياح للصليب واشعال النار والاحتفال بالقداس الالهي.

3- كما وإحتفلت كنيسة مار اوراها بعيد الصليب المقدس إسوة بباقي كنائس البرشية واقام القداس الأحتفالي الأب الفاضل بولس خزيران وتم إيقاد شعلة النار رمز وعلامة إكتشاف الصليب الحي ،وتم ذلك خارج الكنيسة مع اناشيد وتراتيل الشمامسة والمؤمنين وكانت  الأجواء متسمة بالتقوى والخشوع . بعد القداس تناول المؤمنون الغداء والفرح باد على وجوههم.

المهرجان الاشوري الكلداني الاول لكنيستي

مار توما في ترلوك ومار متى في سيريس كاليفورنيا

بحضور حاشد من قبل المؤمنين الكرام فاق التوقعات، تم افتتاح المهرجان الاول لهاتين الكنيستين (الخورنتين) ظهر السبت 20/9/2008 من قبل حضرة الاب الفاضل القس كمال وردا بيداويد، وبحضور الخوراسقف الفاضل شموئيل دنخا والاب الفاضل مايكل باروتا. تناولت كلمة الافتتاح اهمية مثل هذه اللقاءات الاخوية والتي من اهدافها

النبيلة والمرجوة :

1- تعزيز اواصر المحبة بين الاخوة الاشوريين والكلدان الكاثوليك المؤمنين بتاريخهم المشترك وانتمائهم القومي.

2- حث المؤمنين وتشجيعهم على التمسك بالقيم والاخلاق والمبادئ المسيحية النبيلة والتقاليد الحميدة، التي انعم اللـه  على ابناء كنيسة المشرق, وهي حقاً خصال قد لا توجد عند الاخرين.

3-  حث المؤمنين وتشجيعهم على البذل والعطاء السخي لسد حاجات كنيسة مار متى الرسول الحديثة.

كما ونقل الى المحتفلين الكرام تمنيات وتحيات صاحبي السيادة المطران مار سرهد يوسب جمو راعي الابرشية الجزيل الاحترام، والمطران مار باباي سورو الجزيل الاحترام، بهذه المناسبة السعيدة، ورغبتهما الابوية بالمشاركة بهذا الاحتفال، الا ان الظروف الرعوية حالت دون ذلك. استمر الاحتفال لمدة يومين، وتخلل البرنامج فعاليات متعددة ومسلية...ولكن الاهم من كل هذا وذاك هو حظور الشباب والشابات الكثيف وتفاعلهم مع الحدث، ومساهمتهم الفعالة لانجاح المهرجان.

سر الزواج والعائلة المسيحية                 الأب بطرس لورنس   

فاتحادهما بالزواج لا يقبل الانفصام، لان اللـه نفسه قد أقره: "ما يجمعه اللـه لا يفرقه انسان" (متى 19/6). فالمسيح جاء ليعيد الخليقة الى نظامها الاول الذي بلبلته الخطيئة، فهو يعطينا من القوة والنعمة ما يُمّكِنُنا هنا ان نعيش الزواج في ملكوت اللـه وفي بُعدِه الجديد. في ان يدركوا معناه الاصيل وهو العيش بمعونة المسيح، وان يتبعوه حاملين صليبهم لان نعمة الزواج إنما هي ثمرة صليب المسيح ومصدر كل حياة مسيحية. وهذه الحياة كلها تحمل طابع الحب الزوجي القائم بين المسيح والكنيسة، وهذا ما يعلمه القديس بولس: "أيها الرجال أحبوا نساءكم كما أحب المسيح الكنيسة وضحى بنفسه من اجلها ليقدسها" (افسس 5/25-26)، "ولذلك يترك الرجل اباه وامه ويلزم امرأته فيصير الاثنان جسداً واحداً. ان هذا السر لعظيم وأعني به سر المسيح والكنيسة" (افسس 5/31-32).

نحن والزواج:

   علينا اليوم قبل ان نقبل الى سر الزواج المقدس ان نفكر ونتأمل جيداً بمقومات الزواج المسيحي الاساسية والتي يقوم عليها السر ويتأسس وهي: الحب، والرضى التام، وانجاب البنين هذه الثلاثة هي التي تجعل الزواج ارتباط عهدٍ مقدس لا يقبل الانفصال.

الرضى الزوجي:

(بموجب كتاب التعليم المسيحي للكنيسة الكاثوليكية) الفقرات:

1625- طرفا الميثاق الزوجي هما رجل وامرأة مُعمّدان طليقان من كل قيد زوجي، يُعربان بِحرية عن رضاهما: وتقوم الحرية هنا على ما يلي: 1- ان لا يمارس أي ضغط على طالب (أو طالبة) الزواج. 2- ألا يحول دون زواجهما أي شرع طبيعي أو كنسي.

1626- تعتبر الكنيسة تبادل الرضى بين الزوجين عنصراً أساسياً (مكوناً الزواج). فإذا انتفى الرضى ليس ثمة زواج.

1627- قوام الرضى (فعل انساني فيه يتم بين الزوجين موهبة ذاتيهما أحدهما للآخر): (اقبلُكِ زوجةً لي...)،(اقبلكَ زوجاً لي...) هذا التراضي الذي يربط الزوجين احدهما بالاخر يبلغ مداه في ان الاثنين يصيران (جسداً واحداً).

1628- يجب ان يكون الرضى فعل ارادة كل من المتعاقدين، بريئاً من كل عنف أو خوف خارجي خطير وليس ثمة من سلطة بشرية بإمكانها ان تقوم مقام هذا الرضى. فإذا انتفت هذه الحرية كان الزواج باطلاً.

1630- الكاهن الذي يحضر اكليل الزواج يتقبل رضى الزوجين باسم الكنيسة، ويمنحهما بركة الكنيسة. إن حضور الخادم الكنسي والشاهدين يعبر بطريقة مرئية عن ان الزواج هو حقيقة كنسية.

1632- لكي يكون وعد الزوجين عملاً حراً ومسؤولاً، ولكي يقوم الميثاق الزوجي على أسس بشرية ومسيحية راسخة ودائمة، لا بد من اعتبار التأهب للزواج واجباً في غاية الاهمية.

عندما ننظر الى العائلة المقدسة نلاحظ ثلاثة أشخاص مرتبطين بعضهم ببعض، مار يوسف ومريم ويسوع، انها مثال ارتباط الثالوث الاقدس الآب والابن والروح القدس. ان وحدة العائلة المقدسة منحت ثمار الخلاص لكل البشر بواسطة الرب يسوع. هذه الوحدة تأتي من الايمان باللـه (إله العهد) الذي حقق مع ذاته الوحدة على مر الزمن. اذن العائلة المقدسة مرتبطة باله العهد، والعائلة المسيحية اليوم مرتبطة بيسوع المسيح المخلص بالروح القدس الذي يعطي الحياة للذين يؤمنون به.

    من هنا ننطلق اليوم في رحلة مع العائلة المسيحية في فهم وتحقيق الحدث الالهي الذي زرعه اللـه في العالم منذ الخليقة والى يومنا، هذا الزرع الجيد الذي اعده في الملكوت عندما خلق آدم وحواء وقبل ان تشوه صورته بالخطيئة.

في البدء خلق اللـه:

   نقرأ في سفر التكوين (1/27-28):" فخلق اللـه الانسان على صورته على صورة اللـه خلقه ذكراً وانثى خلقهم. وباركهم اللـه وقال لهم: انموا واكثروا واملأوا الارض". لا يريد الكتاب المقدس ان يعطي الصورة الكاملة عن كيفية الخلقة، بقدر ما يعطي قوة اللـه في تحقيق شيء يشبهه وهو الانسان، وان يكون شريكه في خلق الحب، اللـه احب فخلق الانسان، والانسان يحب شريكة حياته فيشترك مع اللـه في تكميل الخلقة البشرية. من هنا يتم بناء العائلة المسيحية الصحيحة، ومن هنا تنطلق فكرة العائلة المسيحية المرتبطة باللـه وبيسوع المسيح الذي هو رأس الكنيسة (افسس 5/23). هذه العائلة المخلوقة على صورة اللـه في العطاء الذي لا ينتهي. هذا هو سر الزواج الذي كثيراً ما ننسى مفاعيله في حياتنا العائلية بسبب الخطيئة التي شوهت صورته. علينا اليوم ان نعيد ونحقق بعض المفاهيم الايمانية، والروحية، والاجتماعية، لعائلتنا المسيحية.

العائلة في سر الزواج:

   يُعرِّف التعليم المسيحي للكنيسة الكاثوليكية سر الزواج بـ(العهد)، ولم يقل هنا بـ(العقد)، من هنا يتم التمييز في المسيحية عن بقية الاديان لمفهوم الزواج. الزواج المسيحي هو رباط شِركة مع الاخر، مثلما اللـه جعل هذا الميثاق (العهد) مع شعبه الى الابد هكذا الزوجين. ولايمكن ان يحل هذا الزواج إلا إذا كان من الاساس لم يُبنَ على هذا العهد المقدس.العهد الذي يقوم بين الرجل والمرأة تشمله شركة الحياة كلها، وتهدف من طبيعتها الى خير الزوجين والى انجاب البنين وتربيتهم تربية صالحة، في الايمان، ومخافة اللـه، ومحبة الاخرين.

   هذا العهد الذي اعطاه يسوع المسيح الاهمية الكبرى عند حضوره عرس قانا الجليل (يوحنا 2/1-11). نرى فيه تثبيتاً لسر الزواج وآية فعالة من آيات حضور المسيح. لقد علم السيد المسيح في كرازته المعنى الاصيل لاتحاد الرجل والمرأة كما اراده الخالق منذ البدء.

An Appeal to our Community Store Owners

The Knights of Columbus*, Mar-Toma council (MTC) is starting a new fundraising program to help our newcomer refugees. Funds will be distributed to help the new families arriving to San Diego. The United States expects to admit a minimum of 17,000 Iraqi refugees in the fiscal year of 2009 comparing to 12,000 for the year 2008. Please find below our plan to collect and distribute these funds: 

1.       Mar-Toma council (MTC) will provide store owners with a donation box (clear plastic 5x4 small boxes) to be placed by the cash register. KofC MTC name, theme, logo and address will be printed on the box.

2.       At the end of each month, store owners will collect the change and mail a check to MTC for the total amount of the change or a minimum of $20 per month per store.

3.       The fund will be used to purchase mattresses or other items to help refugees. MTC will work very closely with other Chaldean organizations who are involved in helping refugees.  A representation from these organizations will be established to control the distribution process and to prevent any duplication.

4.       MTC opened a bank account especially for this fund. This account will only be used for refugees and not for any other activities. 

5.       MTC will keep a record of the account activities and the families that were helped.  An activity report will be issued and published at the end of each year in the Sawra and on kaldaya.net showing the total funds received and the total amount donated to the refugees.

Dear store owner, your cooperation and support is needed to make this program work. We are all aware of the suffering of our refugees and difficulty they experience when first arriving in the US. With you help, we will be able to offer them a symbolic welcome gift through a collaborative effort of our community.
