Celebrating Our Belonging to Each Other in Christ

Numerous faithful of our parishes in north
California are scheduled to come to St. Peter
Cathedral in San Diego, for a
first-time Pilgrimage,
on Saturday, October 17-18, 2009. The historic
meaning of this event cannot be ignored. The
movement of ecclesiastic unity between a segment of
clergy and faithful of the Assyrian Church of the
East and the Chaldean Catholic Dioceses in the USA
was a daring endeavor to contemplate, endure and
achieve. Only the grace of God working in the
hearts of genuine faithful who submit themselves to
the will of the Lord as expressed in his Holy
Scriptures and in the understanding of Mesopotamian
Tradition could have provided the needed clarity of
vision and the endurance for all sides involved, in
order to reach a happy finality.
The principles and methodology that ruled the
process leading to this finality have been proven to
be a formula of success to emulate and expand.
Vision of Ecclesiology and Practical Approach:
1 - Living for centuries in a Christian community of
particular Churches, each of them
believing in a different Ecclesiology, the heirs of
the ancient Mesopotamian Church of the East, the
Chaldeans and Assyrians had to contemplate at the
present time the Lordly call to ecclesial unity. It
was the pursuit of
this goal of unity with humble
research and candor, warming up to it a few years
ago, which led a sizable group of
Assyrians to merge in the Chaldean Catholic Dioceses
of the USA and Australia.
Happily, they are now serenely settled in equality
of membership within the heritage of their own
historic Church, sharing with Chaldeans and fellow
Assyrians dignity, responsibility, and mutually
enriching communion in the Lord.
2 - In pursuing ecclesial unity, a clear recognition
of fact has been reached: that the Chaldean Catholic
Church, due to its patriarchal dynasty, its actual
size, its preservation of Mesopotamian ecclesial
patrimony, and its spiritual and educational
vitality, is the main
remnant and
heir of the ancient Church of the East. Therefore,
she is as such the genuine “home” for all other
segments and branches.
Indeed, the Chaldean Catholic Church is the only
extant institution in which Chaldeans and Assyrians
declare freely and serenely mutual belonging and
unity.
Valid Principal:
In addition to dogmatic principles, a fundamental
principal in our
dialogue for ecclesial unity was and remains:
to retrieve the apostolic heritage of the ancient
Church of the East, especially in the matter of
liturgy,
connect our practice to it, considering it a
primordial reference in all further developments.
Valid Methodology:
An ideal methodology, aiming at achieving ecclesial
unity between Chaldeans and Assyrians would
envisage a dialogue between the two
hierarchies. This method was tried vigorously until
it exhausted its factual capacity, reaching a halt.
A different approach was then attempted:
to dialogue between the willing segments of both
sides, in mutual recognition and equal dignity.
Happily for all sides, this method bore precious
results. That is what we shall celebrate.

The
men’s retreat was the perfect combination of social
interaction
among m
en sharing life’s joys
and struggles and a
brotherhood praying and
meditating for a strong faith. It took place at the
St. George Monastery in Riverside California from
August 28 – 30, 2009. Fr. Andy was outstanding with
his shared knowledge, the facility was extremely
comfortable, and the
environment is as beautiful our Lord wished for us.

Chaldean Community Network (CCN) is a
non-profit organization established in early 2009
and led by a Board of Directors, each focusing on an
area of specialty related to the overall spiritual
and cultural life of the Chaldean Community in San
Diego. The responsibilities of the Board of
Directors are aimed to help Chaldean adults to
achieve meaningful results in their lives for the
benefit of their Church and Community. The
obligation of CCN is primarily to bring the Chaldean
community together,
both socially and religiously in order to accomplish
specified needs for the young and old.

Kits
4 Kids is a fundraising project
organized by CCN. On Friday
September 18th, refugee families lined up around the
old rectory at St. Peter Chaldean Cathedral to
collect school
supplies for their children. With the help and support
of many generous Chaldean families, we were able to
provide school supplies for approximately 200
children and adults for this year. The items donated
were backpacks, notebooks, folders, highlighters,
pencil boxes, calculators, and other school
supplies. The event was a big success in supporting
those in need and enabling them to reach their
educational goals. Thank you again to the families

زيارة راعي الأبرشية الى مدينة فينيكس وضواحيها
أولاً: يوم الجمعة 4 ايلول:
قام سيادة راعي الأبرشية المطران مار سرهد يوسب جمو
بزيارة رعوية الى مدينة فينيكس الاريزونية
وضواحيها، بدأها بزيارة مطران ابرشية فينيكس
الكاثوليكي، ومن ثم الالتقاء بمجالس الخورنات لكنيسة
مار اوراها وارسالية العائلة المقدسة.
ثانياً:
يوم السبت:
اشترك سيادته مع ابناء الرعية في سفرة رعوية الى مدينة
جيروم الجبلية على بعد ساعتين من العاصمة فينيكس.
ثالثاً:
نهار الأحد: احتفل سيادته بالقداس الالهي في
كنيسة مار اوراها للكلدان (في سكاتسكديل)، ثم شارك
بحضور
القداس الالهي في ارسالية العائلة المقدسة للكلدان
والاثوريين الكاثوليك (في فينيكس). وهنأ سيادته
الفائزين في انتخابات مجلس الارسالية الجدد، كما وشكر
المجلس الاول وكافة المجالس القديمة العاملة في خدمة
الكنيسة التي تبذل الكثير من جهدها ووقتها لخدمة ابناء
الرعية يدا بيد مع كاهن الرعية.
رابعا:
عقد سيادته سسلسلة من الاجتماعات مع المسؤولين عن
منهاج التعليم المسيحي، اذ التقى مع الاخوات الراهبات
(كلوتيلدا وفرح)، كما التقى بعدها مع السيدة پالي سيسي
المنسقة في برنامج التعليم المسيحي والثقافة الدينية.
والتقى ايضاً مع المهندس المسؤول عن متابعة قضية توح
يد
اراضي كنيسة مار اوراها الثلاثة عند البلدية، وناقشه
في التطورات الحاصلة الخاصة بقوانين البناء والرخص
المعطاة بشأنها. ثم التقى سيادته هيئةَ من اعضاء مجلس
الكنيسة بهدف تعديل طراز قدس الاقداس بترتيب فني
متناسق في كنيسة مار اوراها بالشكل المقبول من الناحية
الطقسية لتكون كنيسة مشرقية ذات طراز كلداني اصيل. هذا
ومن الجدير بالذكر بان الكنيسة كانت اصلا مجمعا
يهودياً تم شراؤه وتحويله الى كنيسة.
خامسا:
زيارة اللاجئين الجدد:
بعد ظهر يوم الاثنين 7 ايلول، توجه سيادته مع حضرة
الخوراسقف فيليكس الشابي والاخوات والراهبات وممثلين
من المجلس الخورني الى
مدينة توسان الجنوبية على بعد ساعتين من مدينة فينيكس حيث التقى سيادته
بحوالي 20 عائلة من اللاجئين الجدد الذين تم ارسالهم
الى بعض المناطق النائية عن تجمعات كنائسنا وابنائنا.
قام سيادته بالاحتفال بالذبيحة الالهية ومن ثم
استقبلهم في قاعة الكنيسة وخاطبهم مخاطبة الاب لأبنائه
وشجعهم وذكـّرهم بأنهم ليسوا وحيدين في هذا البلد
فهناك كنيسة تتابعهم وتهتم بتعليم ابنائهم واقامة
القداديس لهم على اساس دوري متواصل بعد الاتفاق
والتنسيق مع الكنيسة الكاثوليكية المحلية في المدينة.
فرح الشعب بقدوم الراعي الى لقائهم فقاموا بالتقاط بعض
الصور، كما واهداهم سيادته بعض الكتب الدينية والروحية
ومسبحة الوردية مقدمة من خورنة مار اوراها لتدعم
اللاجئين الجدد في تثبيت خطاهم الروحية والايمانية في
هذا البلد الجديد.
دورة
تدريبية لمعلمي التعليم المسيحي في اريزونا
بحضور الابوين بولس خزيران وفيليكس الشابي بدأت يوم
السبت 20 سبتمبر 2009 في كنيسة مار اوراها الكلدانية
دورة تدريبية لمعلمي ومعلمات التعليم المسيحي لكنيسة
مار اوراها وارسالية العائلة المقدسة في اريزونا.
الدورة تتألف من برنامج مكثف يعطى للمدرسين الجدد خلال
4 اسابيع. تحت اشراف الخوراسقف فيليكس الشابي، وتنسيق
السيدة بالي سيسي المسؤولة عن منهاج التعليم المسيحي.

الأعلامي الكلداني يهنىء
القس ريان عطو
بتعيينه مستشارا للشؤون المسيحية فى وزارة اوقاف اقليم
كوردستان
بموجب
امر صادر من رئاسة مجلس وزراء حكومة اقليم كوردستان
العراق سيباشر الأب ريان بولس عطو فى منصبه الجديد
(مستشار الشؤون المسيحية فى وزارة الاوقاف لحكومة
اقليم كوردستان)، وجاء هذا التعيين بعد زيارة غبطة
الكاردينال مارعمانوئيل الثالث دلي للوزارة.
الأب ريان من مواليد عنكاوا وحاصل على شهادة
الماجستير فى العلوم الكنسية (اللسانس) من المعهد
الحبري للدراسات الشرقية فى روما، وله خبرة فى ادارة
الشؤون الكنسية، وهو راعي كنيسة مار قرداغ الشهيد فى
اربيل منذ عودته من روما عام 2007، ويقوم بالعديد من
النشاطات الكنسية والخيرية على مستوى محافظة اربيل
والأبرشية الكلدانية في عنكاوا ومناطق اخرى. من الجدير
بالذكر ان الأب ريان كان قد زار سان دييكو في صيف عام
2006، وساهم بأعمال قيّـمة في المركز الاعلامي
الكلداني منها مشاركته بتصميم شعار موقعنا كلدايا نت،
وكذلك مشاركته في تصميم شعار نشرتنا سَـورا.
