CLERGY

Corbishop Samuel Dinkha: born in Habbaniya, Iraq. After graduating from the teachers institute he taught in public schools for fifteen years. On May 1, 1969 he was ordained a deacon at Mar Gewargis Church in Baghdad, Iraq. In 1979 he and his family relocated to the United States and settled in Chicago, Illinois. He attended theology classes at Seabury Western Theological Seminary, Loyola University, San Jose Christian College, and online courses. He carries a B.A. in Theology, and a Masters degree in Practical Divinity and Counseling.
He was ordained a priest on June 22, 1980 at Mar Gewargis Cathedral in Chicago. In 1985 he was transferred to San Jose, CA and served at Mar Yosip Cathedral until 2007. On June 5, 2005 he was ordained as a Corbishop. Three years later, in 2008, he moved to Campbell, CA to serve St. Mary’s Assyrian Chaldean Catholic Church. In September 2010 he was appointed as the parish priest at Saint Paul Assyrian Chaldean Parish in North Hollywood, CA.
Corbishop Dinkha is well known in our literal circles. He had authored, translated, and published a dozen on books on the faith, history, and the culture of our people.

Fr. Tomy Tomikeh - Born in 1950 in Tehran, Iran, Fr. Tomikeh entered the seminary of St. Joseph in Tehran and was ordained in 1988 by Mar Youhanna Issayee. The first parish he served was St. Joseph Assyrian Chaldean Catholic Church for six years before he and his family came to the United States in 1998. On September 13, 2002, he was appointed co-pastor of St. Paul parish, where he is still serving.

 

HISTORY

  • Sept. 9, 1979: Fr. Ibrahim Ibrahim (later bishop of St. Thomas the Apostle Diocese) appointed to serve the Chaldean-Assyrian community in Los Angeles.
  • Nov. 16, 1980: Church dedicated to St. Paul the Apostle in Montrose.
  • Sept. 12, 1987: Church dedicated at its present location in North Hollywood .
  • Feb. 1, 1982: Msgr. Abuelahad Najar appointed pastor.
  • Aug. 1986: Fr. Sulaiman Denha appointed pastor.
  • Jun. 3, 1987: Fr. Emauel Shaleta appointed pastor
  • Oct. 2000-Nov. 2001: Fr. Poulus Khozaran serves at parish.
  • Nov. 2001: Fr. Noel Gorgis is appointed pastor and Fr. Tomy Tomikeh co-pastor.
  • 2010 Corbishop Samuel Dinkha Begins serving at parish.
