Felix Shabi
- Born in Karamless, near Mosul,
Iraq in 1975, after finishing high school in his town, he entered
Simon Peter Seminary of the Chaldean Patriarchate of Babylon in
Baghdad in 1992 and was ordained a priest on June 29, 1998. He
worked in the Chaldean Diocese of Mosul between 1998 and 1999 as a
pastor of St. Joseph Chaldean Parish. In the summer of 1999 he
received a scholarship from his diocese to study in Rome. He joined
the Pontifical Oriental Institute of Rome (Pontificio Istituto
Orientale) for just over two years and gained a master’s degree in
the canon law of the Eastern Churches. Arriving in United States of
America on Thanksgiving Day 2002, he was named a parochial vicar of
St. Peter Chaldean Catholic Cathedral in San Diego California.
On 2003 Fr. Felix was sent by the Eparchial Bishop Mar Sarhad Y.
Jammo to serve and gather the Chaldeans in the city of Las Vegas,
Nevada. He served them for five years until they were able to have a
church and became a parish in the summer of 2008. On Dec 07, 2007
Fr. Felix was ordained Corbishop and appointed Chancellor for the
Diocese of St. Peter the Apostle. On November 2008, Msgr. Felix was
appointed as administrator on the Chaldean and Assyrian catholic new
mission in North San Diego County (Poway, CA).
HISTORY

1993: Mission of Mar
Auraha established. Fr. Michael J. Bazzi, who traveled between
it and San Diego , served as priest.

1994: Fr. Kamal Bidawid
serves mission.

1994: Church building
purchased; there were 100 Chaldean families at the time.

1995: Fr. Noel Gorgis
assigned.

June 2, 1995: Mar Auraha Mission elevated to the status of parish.

November 11, 2001: Fr.
Paulos Ghozairan appointed pastor.

From July 25, 2002 – Present
Accomplishments:
- The
purchase of a house adjacent to the Church is to be added
within the property.
- The
paying off of a $600,000 loan.
- The
remodeling of the Church; adding 33 new pews and seating 400
parishinors.
- The
renovation of the former residence of the pastor into a
center for religious studies.

There is currently a plan under way to build a hall for 300
people.
