85 Children Receive First Holy
Communion at St. Michael's
At 6pm on Saturday, June 6,
2009, 85 boys and girls received their first Communion at a mass
celebrated by Mar Sarhad Yawsip Jammo. During his homily, he asked
the Bishop asked the children different questions pertaining to what
they had learned throughout the year and advised them on the
importance of this holy sacrament. On the evening before their first
Communion, the children also went to their first confession in order
to prepare themselves for the Holy Mysteries they would receive the
following day. The children returned again on Sunday, June 7, to
attend their second mass and were invited to a small luncheon in
celebration of their first Communion in the hall where they received
certificates of completion and different prizes.
