Rosary Bowl In Pasadena, California

On May 19, a busload of St. Paul’s parishioners headed toward Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, not to watch the game but to participate in one of the biggest gathering of Catholics in California. Los Angeles Archdiocese along with Knights of Columbus held the Rosary Bowl, a day of prayer for World Peace, in an evening.

Catholics of various rites within the greater Los Angeles and cities far, gathered together to see their sisters and brothers in faith, clothed in different colors and speaking in different languages and dialects praise the Lord and pray to Virgin Mary, mother of God, for peace and tranquility in world.

The program started at 6pm and lasted for more than 3 ½ hours is a brisk and somewhat chilly weather. Speakers included Bishop Solis of Los Angeles Diocese, Immaculée Ilibagiza (survivor of Rwanda Genocide), Carl Anderson of Knights of Columbus, and James Caviezel best known for his role in Mel Gibson’s movie “The Passion”.

Our group sat on the bleachers awaiting for Fr. Noel’s turn to praise the Lord in Aramaic, yet the hopes faded away when His Eminence Cardinal Mahoney started the Rosary, skipping Fr. Noel’s part. We head back to church about 10pm and all of the participants liked the program and were thankful to Fr. Noel for arranging this event.
