Palm Springs
Trip 2007

The Youth of St. Peter’s Chaldean
Catholic Cathedral in El Cajon, CA, took a trip up to the Palm
Springs Mountains on February 19, 2007. Leaving at the peak of
dawn, Fr. Michael Bazzi and Fr. Andrew Younan led 60 Bible
study, choir, and BOL members on a refreshing trip to the snow.
A tram left the ground and
elevated 5000 feet, taking all church members on a fun ride up
to the top of mountains covered in snow. The youth ran outside
quickly, tossing and throwing snow at one another while also
enjoying the scenery and breathing in the pure, fresh air. Fr.
Michael Bazzi, an expert in navigating through the Palm Springs
Mountains, led the students on a 7-mountain hike. A few hours
and snow fights later, they reached the top and recited a few
prayers and words of thanks before trailing back down. Luckily,
it only just started to snow as everyone headed back into the
warm cabin/resting area.
After a morning full of adventure
and ice cold weather, the bus returned to a nearby outlet where
time was spent eating, shopping, and lounging around. As the day
came to an end, the bus brought the worn-out group back to the
church. What a fabulous way to spend a holiday, visit the snow,
go hiking, and finish off with shopping!
