The Season of Lent Has Begun!
The time of Lent is a time to remind us of many
things. In our daily life we are consumed with work, school,
family, and friends and we watch the clock turn faster than we can
keep up with. So many of us just simply forget to pray everyday or
just don’t make the time for anything that’s Church related.
Praying, fasting, or just taking a moment to enjoy God’s creation is
a way of talking to God. This could take just minutes out of our
regular day and many of us just seem too busy for those few minutes.
We so often take for granted all of the happiness that God brings to
us in our lives.
At church, have you ever looked around and
found someone praying from all their heart and soul? How empty did
you feel? Did you wonder why you don’t have that same joy? Dear
brothers and sisters, the moment we realize what joy prayer brings
to us is the moment we will want to talk to God endlessly. This is
what Lent is all about. It is a time of conversion or turning back
to God. It’s realizing how important it is to have God in our
lives. We need to understand and put an end to our bad habits and
wrongdoings. Through the Stations of the Cross we are able to
relive the last hours of Christ and join in his suffering. We must
remember to always help others and see Christ in our neighbors in
need. In the Eucharist, Jesus gives us the Gift of himself, which
is the greatest source of charity that we share at Mass. When our
day comes and our busy life comes to a stop we want to be there with
God.
